Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam, has commissioned a 570 metre precision approach lighting system to enhance aircraft approach and landing operations, particularly during low visibility conditions. The system extends the airport’s approach lighting coverage from the earlier 180 metres to 570 metres, providing improved visual guidance to pilots during landing. The project included the planning, installation, calibration, testing and commissioning of the system in accordance with applicable aviation safety and regulatory standards. The commissioning forms part of the airport’s broader efforts to modernise and strengthen its airside infrastructure and improve operational safety.
