The central government inaugurated the Thirumangalam-Therkuvenganallur four-laning road project (NH-744), Package II on October 11, 2026. The project involves four-laning of the 35.6 km Vadugapatti-Therkuvenganallur section of NH-744, from km 36 to km 71.6, at a cost of Rs 13.18 billion.
The second project inaugurated was Vadipatti-Chittampatti four-lane road project (Bharatmala Pariyojana). The project involves four-laning of the 29.96 km Vadipatti-Thamaraipatti section of the Madurai Ring Road on NH-744A, from km 0 to km 29.96, at a cost of Rs 8.54 billion.
