Public Investment Board (PIB) has approved the Delhi-Bawal and Delhi-Karnat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Projects.
The Delhi-Bawal RRTS spans 93 km and entails investment of Rs 320 billion. Originating at Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi, it is planned to run via parts of south Haryana (including industrial nodes such as Manesar and Bawal) and along the edge of the national highway network. The proposed route is aligned along NH-8 and is to include roughly 22 stations when extended further south.
The Delhi-Karnal RRTS spans 136 km and entails investment of Rs 330 billion. The corridor originates similarly from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi and extends north through Haryana, covering major towns such as Sonipat, Panipat, and terminates at Karnal. The detailed project report (DPR) of the project is prepared.
