Speaking on the occasion of the 43rd foundation day of the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT), minister of state for communications and rural development said that India has a significant opportunity to influence the development of 6G technology, quantum communications and quantum security, rather than merely adopting standards set by others.
He said the government’s push provides India with the chance to actively shape global 6G standards and make an impact in quantum communications and quantum security. He added that building the entire ecosystem, whether for 4G, 5G or quantum technologies, is a shared responsibility with the primary purpose of advancing India’s technological capabilities.
The minister noted that India has become the fifth country globally to achieve self-reliant 4G technology, which is currently serving 22 million subscribers. He also urged C-DoT to reduce the gap between invention and implementation, noting that the organisation currently has a product cycle of 12 to 18 months.
