The Haryana government inaugurated the Hisar-Jakhal section of the Hisar-Jakhal-Dhuri-Ludhiana railway electrification project on September 4, 2019. As part of the project, 202 km of an existing railway line between Hisar and Ludhiana via Jakhal and Dhuri in Haryana and Punjab, respectively, is being electrified at an estimated cost of Rs 1.79 billion. The project was sanctioned in Railway Budget 2013-14.
