IndiGo places order for 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft

IndiGo has reportedly placed an order for 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

The move comes as a part of the airline’s attempt to move from short-haul and dominate long haul travel in the region. The airline also has purchasing rights for 70 aircraft that are set to commence delivery from 2027. The A350-900 aircraft have a capacity to operate for 16-17 hours, facilitating the airline to operate on North American routes. The airline had also examined Airbus’s A330 aircraft and Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner. The A350 aircraft was selected given its commonality with the existing Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft fleet. The Trent XWB engines of Rolls Royce are to power the new aircraft.
