The Ministry of Railways (MoR) has approved the survey for a proposed 130 km new railway line connecting Nawada in Bihar to Giridih in Jharkhand.
The alignment will commence at Nawada, pass through Satgawan in Jharkhand’s Koderma district, and then proceed via Gawaan, Tisri and Jamua in Giridih district before terminating at Giridih. A detailed study is to be conducted on the potential route, construction challenges and passenger and freight transport possibilities.
The project will establish direct rail connectivity between Bihar and Jharkhand, providing rail access to several rural areas of both states for the first time. The line is expected to facilitate movement of passengers and goods, support agricultural produce transportation and improve access to Jain pilgrimage sites and Buddhist religious centres in the region.
