V. O. Chidambaranar Port (VOC Port) handled 581,557 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containerised cargo during April to December period of FY 2024-25. This represents an increase of 7 per cent as compared the corresponding period of FY 2023-24 when the port handled 543,531 TEUs. Besides, the port has maintained its position as the top performer among major ports, with an average container turnaround time of 19.92 hours during April to December period of FY 2024-25.
The combined capacity of container terminals at VOC Port (Tuticorin International Container Terminal, Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminals and PSA SICAL Container Terminal) stood at 1.6 million TEUs per annum. The port also HAS two inland container depots and 15 container freight stations.
