Feasibility report submitted to CMRL for Coimbatore metro

The feasibility report for the Coimbatore metro rail project has been submitted to Chennai Metro Rail Limited for approval. It has been prepared by a consortium of Systra MVA Consulting (India) Private Limited and RITES Limited. The detailed project report is likely to be prepared soon after the Tamil Nadu government approves the feasibility report. The project involves the development of a 136 km long metro rail system in Coimbatore. It will be implemented in four corridors. The first corridor will cover 26 km from Ukkadam to Kaniyur, the second corridor will cover 24 km from Ukkadam to Pilichi near Karamadai on Mettupalayam Road, the third corridor will cover 42 km from Thanneerpandal on Thadagam Road to Karanampettai on Trichy Road, and the fourth corridor will cover 44 km from Karunya Nagar to Ganeshapuram.
