NEC bags contracts for biometric system at three airports

NEC Technologies India, a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation, has bagged a contract from AAI to implement a biometric-based boarding platform across four airports. These are the Lal Bahadur Shastri airport (Varanasi), Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose airport (Kolkata), Pune airport and Vijayawada airport. The system will be operationalised at these airports in a phased manner by the end of 2020. In addition to the delivery of the biometric-based boarding platform, which includes facial recognition systems, kiosk terminals and biometric-enabled e-gates, NEC will oversee the operation and maintenance of the platform for the next seven years.
