Commercial operations commence at Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Andhra Pradesh

Commercial operations commenced at the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Andhra Pradesh on August 17, 2026.

Airlines including Air India Express, Air India, IndiGo, Scoot and IndiaOne Air marked the inaugural day of operations with arrivals.

The airport, developed and operated by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited (GVIAL), is designed to handle an initial capacity of 6 million passengers per annum (mppa), with a planned phased expansion to 40 mppa. It also features a 3,800-metre Code 4E runway, capable of handling wide-body aircraft.

The airport was inaugurated on August 1, 2026.
