Indian Railways (IR) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) for the procurement and installation of automatic wheel profile measurement systems (AWPMS). This system facilitates faster and more precise assessment of wheel geometry and wear by using laser scanners and high-speed cameras, requiring no manual intervention.
Moreover, it enhances the safety and operational efficiency of trains by providing timely alerts in case of deviations. Under this collaboration, DMRC will be responsible for the procurement, supply, installation, and commissioning of four AWPMS units for IR.
