IR achieves freight loading of 137.9 mt in August 2026

Indian Railways (IR) has achieved freight loading of 137.9 million tonnes (mt) in August 2026, an increase of 5.4 per cent over same month last year. Commodity-wise, IR registered an increase of 12.1 per cent in iron loading, 10.4 per cent in clinker, 9.2 per cent in domestic container, 8.2 in balance other goods, 6 per cent in coal, 4.9 in finished steel, 3.1 in mineral oil, and 1.6 per cent in fertilisers loading. Further, freight revenue recorded by IR was around Rs 149.84 billion an increase of 6.27 per cent as compared to same month last year. Besides, IR also recorded passenger traffic of 672.7 million during the month. This includes suburban traffic of 380.1 million.
