Shell Gas, a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell plc, has completed the acquisition of a 26 per cent equity stake of Total Gaz Electricite Holdings France (Total) in the Hazira Port LNG Terminal Expansion Project. The Rs 28 billion project is being implemented by a special purpose vehicle, Hazira LNG Private Limited, in the state of Gujarat. It involves the augmentation of capacity of an existing operational terminal at Hazira port from 5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 10 mtpa, along with a pipeline of 13.9 km length (up to 36 inch diameter) parallel to the existing send-out pipeline for distribution of liquefied natural gas to the grid.
