GMR deal to buyout Malaysia partner from Hyderabad airport JV falls through

The share purchase agreement (SPA) signed by Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) to sell its entire 11 per cent equity stake in GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) to GMR Airport Holding Limited has been automatically terminated due to a failure by the latter to complete its obligation in accordance with the terms of the SPA by December 31, 2018. Therefore, MAHB and MAHB (Mauritius) Private Limited will remain shareholders of GHIAL, the joint venture (JV) company which operates Hyderabad airport. In February 2018, MAHB had revealed plans to sell all its 41,580,000 shares to GMR for $76.05 million (Rs 5.34 billion).
