ITI Limited has won two projects worth Rs 26.58 billion under tenders issued by the Maharashtra Information Technology Corporation as part of BharatNet Phase II. Approximately 38,000 km of optic fibre cable (OFC) has to be laid to connect gram panchayats with blocks, district centres and state headquarters. Together, the projects will cover 18 districts, 110 talukas and 8,695 gram panchayats. ITI will have to undertake laying of underground and aerial OFC, including site surveys, planning, procurement, design, implementation network at talukas and gram panchayats as well as operations and maintenance of the network.
