Maharashtra Government approves Mumbai Metro Line 13 Project

Government of Maharashtra (GoM) has approved Mumbai Metro Line 13 (Mira Bhayandar – Virar) Project on August 18, 2026.

The project spans 25.03 km (21.78 km elevated and 3.25 km underground) and is likely to be implemented by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). The project entails investment of Rs 177.25 billion. It is likely to have 16 stations in total (13 elevated and three underground).

The project also involves 4.92-km-long, six lane integrated road and metro double-deck bridge across the Vasai creek with a link to Panju Island. It is likely to connect Mira Road, Vasai, Nalasopara, Naigaon and Virar, and will include a depot at Chikhal Dongri in Virar. The project is likely to link up with suburban railway stations at Naigaon, Nalasopara and Virar, and will be interlinked with Metro Line 9 at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose stadium.

Additionally, about 24.84 hectare land parcel is likely to be acquired for the project. The land acquisition and rehabilitation entails investment of Rs 27.15 billion. The land acquisition is likely to be completed by February 2027.
