The Maharashtra government has constituted a task force for the successful implementation of the Navi Mumbai international airport project. The greenfield project, involving an investment of Rs 167.04 billion, will be developed in four phases on a PPP basis. A task force comprising 17 members, including six special invitees from various government departments, has been formed to ensure the timely completion of project works and the provision of basic amenities. These amenities include the provision of water supply and electricity to the airport along with proper airport connectivity through road, rail, metro and trans-harbour links. The task force will also assist in obtaining various permissions from government departments and will coordinate with the state government and other organisations for faster clearances. Works under Phase I of the project are currently in progress and are likely to be completed by December 2019.
