As per the centre, as of December 2025, around 59 million FASTags are active out of 118.6 million issued nationwide since its inception. Daily electronic toll collection (ETC) transactions have averaged 10.5 million in 2025-26 (up to December), boosting efficiency and reducing congestion. Vehicles now cross plazas in about 40 seconds compared to over 12 minutes under manual systems.
Since the August 2025 launch of annual passes, 4.2 million passes have been activated, supporting over 190 million transactions by year-end. About 25 per cent of non-commercial vehicles use these passes, with 98 per cent of tolls now being collected electronically.
