The Universal Rail Mill (URM) of SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant achieved 5 million tonnes (mt) of prime rail production as of May 2025. The URM is an advanced facility that produces high quality 130-metre rails for Indian Railways (IR).
Additionally, the quality acceptance rate of the URM has significantly improved from 82 per cent in the financial year (FY) 2017-18 to 96 per cent in FY 2024-25.
