The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued the Solar Systems, Devices, and Components Goods Order, 2025, setting performance standards for solar modules, inverters and storage batteries. The order aims to improve the quality and reliability of solar components while promoting the adoption of high-performance solar technologies. All solar goods, including crystalline silicon terrestrial PV modules, thin-film modules, storage batteries, power inverters and utility-interconnected inverters, must comply with the Bureau of Indian Standards regulations and bear its “standard mark” under license. Additionally, the order introduces a minimum efficiency requirement under standard test conditions for different types of solar modules.
