TBM Narmada accomplishes its final breakthrough at Surat metro phase 1 project

In a notable development, the tunnel boring machine (TBM) Narmada completed its final breakthrough at Surat railway station on line 1 for the Surat metro phase 1 project. This marks the overall fifth and the second-last breakthrough for the package CS2 / UG1.

The Gulermak – Sam India Builtwell joint venture was awarded construction contract for package CS2 / UG1, which spans 3.46 km. The scope of work under this package includes the construction of three twin tunnels and three stations namely, Kapodra, Labheshwar Chowk, and Central Warehouse.

Surat metro is an under-construction mass rapid transit system which spans 41.93 km, consisting of two corridors and 37 stations.
