Traffic at Indian major ports declines by 19.68 per cent during April-June

During the first three months (April-June) of the ongoing fiscal year (2020-21), Indian major ports handled 141.92 million tonnes (mt) of traffic, as compared to 176.7 mt in the corresponding period of 2019-20, registering a decline of 19.68 per cent. Paradip port handled the maximum traffic at 25.73 mt, followed by Deendayal port (25.05 mt) and Visakhapatnam port (15.45 mt). The traffic handled at the major ports has been severely impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In terms of growth, all the major ports registered a decline except for the New Mangalore and Mormugao ports.
