Indian Railways approved the Mukutban (Adilabad)-Gadchandur New Rail Line Project on September 18, 2026. It has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 4.93 billion.
As per the detailed project report (DPR), the project once commissioned will support 6.08 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of freight traffic which includes coal and coke, cement, sponge iron, metal scrap, iron and steel, fertilisers and foodgrains, among others, along with two MEMU trains in each direction per day. It will also facilitate direct connectivity between the coal and cement cluster and the Majri-Nanded route.
The project involves the construction of a 38.21 km long new rail line connecting Mukutban (Adilabad) to Gadchandur in Maharashtra at an estimated cost of Rs 4.93 billion. It will reduce dependence on Balharshah-Nagpur High-Density Network (HDN) route.
