Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has proposed scaling its contract-for-difference (CfD) construct to 10 GW for the Indian power market, building on its ongoing pilot for assured peak power supply.
SECI had earlier initiated a 1 GWh pilot tender under the CfD construct to facilitate reliable renewable power supply during periods of peak demand. The proposed 10 GW framework would expand the application of the mechanism and support greater flexibility in power procurement, integration of renewable energy and storage, market participation and efficient utilisation of available generation resources. The framework could also bring renewable and storage developers, generators, traders, power exchanges, discoms and large consumers into new market-linked contracting and participation models.
