The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand industry-aligned skilling in semiconductors and emerging technologies.
The partnership will focus on developing and delivering training and certification programmes in high-growth areas including semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT), drones, embedded systems, Industry 4.0, cybersecurity and electric vehicle electronics. ESSCI will provide industry-relevant standards and qualification packages aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework and Skill India requirements, while NIELIT’s virtual laboratories will be leveraged for initial skilling and upskilling in semiconductors, AI, IoT and drone technology. The collaboration will also support the setting up of advanced laboratories, Centres of Excellence and training facilities.
Further, the two organisations will jointly design competency frameworks, conduct training of trainers and assessors, organise faculty development programmes and execute joint workforce studies to identify future technology skill demands. The partnership will also facilitate apprenticeships, internships, industrial visits and placements, leveraging ESSCI’s corporate network to encourage private sector participation.
