Adani Power Limited has laid the foundation stone for a 3,200 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant at Chapar in Dhubri district, Assam. The project entails an investment of around Rs 480 billion.
The plant will comprise four 800 MW units and use ultra-supercritical technology. It forms part of the Adani Group’s planned investment of around Rs 630 billion in Assam’s power sector. This includes approximately Rs 150 billion for two pumped storage plants with a combined capacity of 2,700 MW, to be developed through Adani Green Energy Limited. The Chapar plant is expected to support the electricity requirements of households, commercial establishments and industries in the state. It is scheduled to be commissioned in phases from December 2030.
