The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has launched an artificial intelligence (AI) platform named Vitaran Intelligence in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division.
The platform uses smart meter data to monitor consumption and transformer loading in real time. It applies IEC 60076-based thermal models to classify transformers by stress level. It also generates automated alerts and maintenance recommendations using agentic AI. Moreover, the system helps identify overloaded areas needing infrastructure upgrades.
