The Hyderabad Regional Ring Road’s northern stretch has been approved with a budget of Rs 239.95 billion, after a long delay. Prior to this, the initial budget estimate for the 161 km long stretch was Rs 150 billion. The project is planned as a six-lane corridor and is expected to improve connectivity around Hyderabad. The cost increase is tied to the expansion from a four-lane plan to a six-lane road with higher capacity. Additionally, the approved stretch will link the Sangareddy and Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri sides through several packages.
Under the project, package-I will cover around 83.5 km from Girmapur in Sangareddy district to Pragnapur in Siddipet district, while package-II will span 78 km from Pragnapur to Tangedpalli in Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district. Furthermore, the project includes 44 major bridges, 127 minor bridges, 1,262 box culverts, 4 road overbridges, 44 underpasses, and 1 vehicle overpass.
The land acquisition is already underway, and compensation is being processed for affected farmers in multiple villages.
