AESL wins Satara transmission project for 4.5 GW renewable power evacuation

Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has won an inter-state transmission project under the tariff-based competitive bidding route to evacuate renewable energy from Karnataka to major load centres in Maharashtra. The project entails an estimated capital expenditure of around Rs 47 billion and will also support pumped storage projects of up to 4,500 MW in the Satara region and the wider Satara, Pune and the Mumbai metropolitan region.

The project, “Network Expansion Scheme in Western Region to Cater to Pumped Storage Potential near Satara (up to 4500 MW) – Part A”, is housed under Satara Power Transmission Limited and is scheduled for completion within 36 months. The project will add 562 ckm of transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to AESL’s network. It also includes the establishment of a 765/400 kV substation at Satara, the Kolhapur-Satara 765 kV double-circuit transmission line, and augmentation of the Kolhapur pooling station along with associated transmission infrastructure.
