Ministry of Railways (MoR) has granted special railway project status to Tikiri-Kutrumali New Railway Line Project in Odisha. Further, a traffic survey has already been carried out for the project, which will involve forest clearance. Besides, the final land survey report was submitted in March 2022.
The project spans 49 km and aims to improve transportation of bauxite ore from the Kutrumali and Sijumali mines at an estimated cost of Rs 11.51 billion in Kalahandi and Rayagada districts of Odisha.
