The Union Government inaugurated and laid foundation stone for various railway projects in Gujarat on September 8, 2026.
Projects inaugurated:
– 326 km long three sections- New Sanand (North)-New Makarpura, New Umbergaon-New Saphale, and New Saphale-New JNPT sections under the Dedicated Freight Corridor Project (Western Corridor), built with an investment of over Rs 207 billion.
– 28 km long Jobat-Tanda Road section built at a cost of about Rs 3.34 billion under the Chhota Udepur-Dhar BG Railway Line Project. The project involves laying of a new broad gauge railway line between Chhota Udepur and Dhar connecting the states of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. It will span over a length of 157 km and is estimated to entail an investment of Rs 19.93 billion.
Besides, foundation stone has been laid for three projects covering 329 km at an overall cost of over Rs 97 billion. These are:
– Vadodara-Ratlam Third and Fourth Rail Line Project involves laying a 259 km long third and fourth rail line from Ratlam to Vadodara in the state of Gujarat at an estimated cost of Rs 88.85 billion.
– Miyagam Karjan-Choranda-Malsar Gauge Conversion Project involves conversion of the existing 37 km narrow gauge into a broad-gauge railway line between Miyagam Karjan-Choranda-Malsar in the state of Gujarat with an investment of Rs 4.5 billion.
– Vishwamitri-Dabhoi Rail Line Doubling Project involves doubling of 33 km long railway line between Vishwamitri and Dabhoi in the state of Gujarat at an estimated cost of Rs 3.94 billion.
