Sun Drops Energia Limited, a subsidiary of KPI Green Energy Limited, has signed a battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for self-owned independent power producer standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) projects with an aggregate capacity of 445 MW/890 MWh at multiple locations in Gujarat.
The agreement follows GUVNL’s tariff-based competitive bidding process under phase VII for procurement of standalone BESS supported by viability gap funding through the power system development fund. Under the agreement, the company will develop, own and operate the projects and make the contracted storage capacity available to GUVNL on a long-term basis.
