The Ministry of Railways has approved construction of the Tambaram-Chengalpattu Fourth Rail Line Project in Tamil Nadu. Besides, it will be executed by Southern Railway under ‘Plan Head-15 (Doubling)’, identified as part of the ‘Energy, Mineral and Cement Corridor’ of railways.
It involves quadrupling the existing rail line between Tambaram and Chengalpattu at an estimated cost of Rs 7.57 billion in Tamil Nadu.
