The Pune Municipal Corporation is set to clean all its drainage pipelines using high-capacity suction and jetting machines over a period of seven years. The initiative will help eliminate manual intervention for cleaning the drains spanning a length of 2,515 kilometres (km) and 142,463 chambers.
An agency engaged by the government of Maharashtra has agreed to provide 11 machines, including four 8-tonne capacity suction machines and seven 18.5-tonne suction machines for cleaning the drains at an estimated cost of Rs 813.50 million.
