The centre has approved 19 road and tunnel projects covering 296 km for Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) worth Rs 106.37 billion. Many areas of the frontier districts near the Line of Control (LoC) will have all-weather access and reduced travel times owing to these developments.
The Peer-Ki-Gali tunnel, which is estimated to cost Rs 38.30 billion, will give the Kashmir Valley and the rest of the nation alternate all-weather communication. Karnah region near the LoC will be accessible year-round via the Rs 33.30 billion Sadhana tunnel.
These projects will link different tourist locations and enhance military mobility and logistical support. Tunnel construction will shorten travel times and promote economic expansion.
The remaining projects that have been approved include the Rs 8.52 billion Zaznar Shopian section, the Rs 7 billion four-lane flyover from Lal Chowk to Parimpora, the Rs 9.66 billion Trehgam-Chamkote section, the Rs 4.45 billion four-lane Magam flyover on the Narbal-Gulmarg section, the Rs 0.95 billion Qazigund Bypass and a two-lane bridge over Rambiara at Shopian.
