The Ministry of Railways (MoR) has granted Special Railway Project (SRP) status to three railway projects. These are Gummidipundi-Gudur Third and Fourth Railway Line Project (90 km), Arakkonam-Renigunta Third and Fourth Rail Line Project (77 km) and Hosur-Omalur Railway Line Doubling Project (147 km). This will enable faster land acquisition and project implementation.

  • The Gummidipundi-Gudur Third and Fourth Railway Line (90 km) is planned as an extension of the already sanctioned Athipattu-Gummidipundi Third and Fourth Rail Line project.
  • Arakkonam-Renigunta Third and Fourth Rail Line Project (77 km) is proposed as an extension of the existing Chennai-Arakkonam Corridor. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been completed and submitted to the Railway Board (RB) for approval.
  • The Hosur-Omalur Railway Line Doubling Project (147 km) will improve train frequency and increase carrying capacity on the corridor.
