Construction work commences on the Pune Outer Ring Road project in Maharashtra

The construction work on the Pune Outer Ring Road Project by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has officially begun. The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2027. The project’s land acquisition is 99 per cent complete for the western part and 98 per cent complete for the eastern part.

A total of 1,054.03 hectares (ha), or 99 per cent of the entire required area, has been acquired for the Eastern Ring Road (PRR-EAST). This includes forest, government, and private land. Additionally, 692.66 hectares, or 98 per cent of the required area, has been secured for the Western Ring Road (PRR-WEST). The remaining six hectares of land are currently being acquired.

The Pune Ring Road project involves construction of a 138 km long ring road in Maharashtra. It entails building an access-controlled ring road in the Pune District that will begin at Urse on the Yashwantrao Chavan Highway and connect at Shivare on the Pune-Satara National Highway (NH)-4. It will be 74.08 km long (from Ch. -0.650 km to 73.145 km) as the Eastern Ring Road (PRR-EAST) and 65.45 km long (from -0.65 km to 64.800 km) as the Western Ring Road (PRRWEST). The overall project is expected to cost Rs 158.57 billion.
