UP government targets 500 GW solar power generation by 2030

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has set an ambitious target to generate 500 GW of solar power by 2030, aiming to transform regions such as Bundelkhand, Vindhya, and adjoining areas into solar energy hubs.

As part of its policy-driven approach to accelerate the state’s green energy transition, the government has signed memorandums of understanding with the Smart Energy Council of Australia and the Hinduja Group. These partnerships are expected to boost investments, promote technology transfer, and strengthen international collaboration in the solar sector.

The government has also launched the Solar Mitra Yojana to develop a skilled workforce for the solar value chain—including panel manufacturing, installation, maintenance, grid integration, and transmission—ensuring that solar expansion also generates significant employment opportunities across the state.
