Adani Group has proposed an investment of Rs 1 trillion to develop a large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) data centre in Odisha and has sought approximately 250 acres of land from the state government for the project. If approved, the facility could rank among India’s largest AI data infrastructure developments, second only to Google’s planned one gigawatt (GW) project in Andhra Pradesh.
The proposal is currently under evaluation by the government of Odisha, with authorities assessing key requirements including land availability, power supply, water resources and connectivity. Cuttack has been identified as a possible location, though no final decision has been taken, according to officials familiar with the matter.
Further, the project is expected to be a standalone Adani Group investment rather than a joint venture. The company has also sought state incentives and the proposal will be placed before a high-level clearance authority chaired by the chief minister once due diligence is completed and terms are finalised.
