Indian Railways achieves freight loading of 141.3 mt during July 2026

Indian Railways (IR) has achieved freight loading of 141.3 million tonnes (mt) during July 2026, an increase of nine per cent over same month last year. Commodity-wise, it registered an increase of 22.2 per cent in iron ore, 12.1 per cent in balance other goods, 12 per cent in fertilisers, and 11.5 per cent each in coal and foodgrains.

Further, it generated freight revenue of Rs 11.37 billion, an increase of eight per cent over July 2025. This led to freight revenue growth of 33 per cent each in East Central Railway (ECR) and Eastern Railway (ER), followed by 23 per cent in West Central Railway (WCR) and 10.33 per cent in South Eastern Railway (SER) among other zones.

Besides, passenger traffic registered by IR was 633.5 million, as compared to 621.9 million in previous month last year.
