Indian Railways (IR) approved the Danapur-Fatuha Multi-Tracking Rail Section Project on August 1, 2026. It has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 9.76 billion.
Moreover, the project will daily handle 22 extra passenger trains and 18 more freight trains in its first year of commencement. Besides, it will be able to manage 5.2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of additional freight traffic.
The project involves multitracking of 29 km long Danapur to Fatuha section under the East Central Railway (ECR) zone in Bihar at an estimated cost of Rs 9.76 billion. The scope of work covers laying of third and fourth railway lines between Danapur-Patna section, third line between Rajendra Nagar-Patna Saheb section along with third and fourth lines between Patna Saheb-Fatuha section. It also forms part of the quadrupling initiative on the Delhi, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Patna, Kiul, Bhagalpur, Khanna and Howrah route which has been identified under IR’s Energy, Mineral and Cement Corridor.
