Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has conducted its first trial run on the new Umbergaon-IR Saphale section under the Dedicated Freight Corridor Project (Western Corridor).
The project involves development of a 1,504 km long heavy haul freight corridor of double line electric (2X25 kV) tracks in Haryana, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh with an investment of Rs 511.01 billion. It is being developed in three phases, Vadodara-Rewari (Phase I), Vadodara-Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) (Phase II), and Rewari-Dadri (Phase III).
