The Prime Minister has launched the country’s first Vande metro, renamed as the Namo Bharat rapid rail service, connecting Bhuj and Ahmedabad on September 16, 2024.
This rapid rail service will stop at nine stations and cover a distance of 360 kilometres in 5 hours and 45 minutes, achieving a top speed of 110 kilometres per hour.
Further, it features 12 coaches with seating for 1,150 passengers and is equipped with advanced safety systems such as advanced braking system, KAVACH for collision avoidance, fire detection, and aerosol-based fire suppression, along with emergency lights.
