Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) and Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) signed a concession agreement for the development and operation and maintenance (O&M) of berth no. 13 at Deendayal Port on September 10, 2024.
The project involves the handling of clean cargo equipment, such as container handling equipment (e.g., rubber tyred gantry cranes, reach stackers, spreaders) and dry bulk handling equipment (e.g., payloaders, forklifts, dumpers, trailers, grabs, etc). It also includes the development of storage yards, covered sheds, and ancillary facilities like additional internal road and rail infrastructure, gate complexes, electrification and lighting systems, toilet blocks, etc., to the required extent for the project. The existing assets of berth 13 will be handed over to the concessionaire on an “as-is-where-is” basis, with the list of assets to be provided at a later stage.
The project will be set up on a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer basis under the public-private partnership model, with a concession period of 30 years. The berth’s capacity will be 5.7 million metric tonnes per annum, and the estimated project cost is Rs 1.69 billion.
