Indian Railways has recently conducted the first-ever trial run of the Vande Metro trainset between Villivakkam and Walajah Road, Chennai, along with senior officers of Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Research Design and Standards Organisation and Southern Railway.
Manufactured in ICF, the new metro trainset has 12 coaches and is fully air-conditioned which can run up to 110 kmph designed for inter-city travel of 150-200 km. This is set to make short distance inter-city travel highly comfortable for passengers with improved safety aspects.
