Sewage treatment capacity of two STPs in Faridabad likely to be increased soon

According to the Municipal Corporation Faridabad (MCF), the sewage treatment capacity of the two sewage treatment plants (STP) at Pratapgarh and Mirzapur villages is likely to be increased from 50 and 60 million litres per day (mld) soon. The upgraded STPs at Pratapgarh and Mirzapur villages have a total capacity of 180 mld. The trial runs of these STPs have begun along with the treatment of sewage of around 70 mld capacity. The functioning of these STPs will relieve the city from untreated sewage discharge.

Currently, around 80 to 90 per cent of the untreated sewage is being discharged into the canals, drains and river due to weak infrastructure and a lack of restrictions on improper disposal.
