Railway Board initiates trial run for Hydrogen powered train on Kalka-Shimla route

The Railway Board has initiated a trial run for the hydrogen-powered train between Kalka and Shimla. It will help in lowering the carbon footprint, along with the upgradation of railways. The Kalka-Shimla route will be the first narrow-gauge network to facilitate hydrogen trains. Also, three hydrogen gas stations will be built on Kalka, Shimla and Barog for the extraction of hydrogen from water to supply fuel to these trains.
