As on February 29, 2024, the Indian shipping industry had a fleet of 1,523 vessels of 13.55 million gross tonnage (GT) and 38.78 million deadweight tonnage (DWT). Of the total vessels, 1,039 were coastal vessels with a tonnage of 1.72 million GT (2.04 million DWT) and 484 overseas vessels of 11.83 million GT (18.42 million DWT). During the month of February 2024, two coastal vessel of 1,287 GT (1,530 DWT) were added and two coastal vessels of 584 GT (80 DWT) were deleted from the overall fleet. In addition, three oversea vessels of 44,536 GT (80,835 DWT) were added and three overseas vessels of 84,221 GT (0.15 million DWT) were deleted from the overall fleet.
