Indian major ports handles 744.06 mt of cargo traffic during April-February FY 2024

During April-February FY 2024, the Indian major ports handled 744.06 million tonnes (mt) of cargo traffic, compared to 711.67 mt in the corresponding period of FY 2023, registering a growth of 4.55 per cent. Port-wise, the Paradip Port handled the maximum cargo at 132.24 mt during April-February FY 2024, followed by Deendayal Port (118.92 mt) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port (78.04 mt). The overseas cargo handled at the major ports increased by 5.06 per cent from 546.91 mt during April-February FY 2023 to 574.57 mt during April-February FY 2024. Meanwhile, the coastal cargo handled at the major ports increased by 2.87 per cent from 164.76 mt during April-February FY 2023 to 169.49 mt during April-February FY 2024.
